It’s Monday. I’m “trying” to be a morning person. No, really. I’ve got to start somewhere. Anyway, Lifehacker recently posted: “The Most Popular Songs to Shower to, According to Spotify“. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with Spotify and to that extent, the majority of Spotify users. I start the day with one of two songs depending on the context of the morning.
- Tycho – Awake
For the calm, ordinary (and especially slow) mornings, I cannot start up without this song. Not only does the title say “Awake” but it really is an uplifting song just in terms of melody and the build up. There’s no singing which is a huge plus for those mornings when someone else’s voice feels like jabbing pens into your ear drums. I’ve been listening to Tycho for a while and this is my bread and butter wake up song. It gets my day started and to some extent, my brain out of neutral.[iframe src=”https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A7pNF2GWqC6eDdtztWVdCFC” width=”300″ height=”380″ frameborder=”0″ allowtransparency=”true”]
- Cleanin’ Up The Town – The Bus Boys
For that morning where you’re late just waking up. If you need to get moving, this song will get you going. Ever since I saw Ghostbusters when I was a kid, this song became the mental playlist for those mornings when I was late and was in a rush.[iframe src=”https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A4GlpFVMLsfibHZMyP0uCLd” width=”300″ height=”380″ frameborder=”0″ allowtransparency=”true”]
Edit: Here’s the clip from Ghostbusters.
Bring on the nostalgia.
